Presentamos este álbum en vivo para conmemorar el 45° aniversario de la publicación de SIEMBRA en 1978 bajo el sello Fania. Este trabajo representó mi segunda colaboración con Willie Colón y es aun considerado como el álbum de mayor venta en la historia del género "Salsa". Esta grabación representa la primera vez que los siete temas de SIEMBRA han sido interpretados en secuencia, tal y como fueron originalmente presentados. Nunca, ni siquiera durante el periodo de nuestra unión con la Orquesta de Willie Colón, las canciones que componen este álbum fueron ejecutadas en publico una detrás de la otra. Los temas en esta versión en vivo mantienen el mismo tono en que fueron originalmente grabados y los arreglos son básicamente los mismos utilizados en 1977-78.

A los que escucharán esta álbum por primera vez, espero que sea de su agrado. A los reincidentes, un abrazo.

We present this live album to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the original release of SIEMBRA in 1978 under the FANIA label. That recording represented my second full collaboration with Willie Colón and it is still arguably considered as the biggest seller in the "salsa" genre history. This recording represents the first time that the seven songs that comprise SIEMBRA are executed in sequence, in front of an audience. Not even during my association with Willie Colón was this done. The songs in this album are presented in the same tone they were originally recorded in, and utilized the same basic arrangements from 1977-78.

To those who will be listening to SIEMBRA for the first time and to those who have been with us from the beginning, ¡gracias!

An Eddie Palmieri album for half the price is something I can't resist... It's splendid salsa throughout, but somewhat untypical, due to some standard jazz elements in the form of extensive improvisations. As usual, Eddie Palmieri "sings" along during his piano parts - quite out of tune sometimes, which can be a little bit distracting. This record has such a magical flow to it, it seems to capture so directly the ups and downs of life, the joy of music and dance, and it's just so damn catchy and fun to listen to as well. Giles
